#JeSuisCharlie springs from the same mixture of self-pity and false bravado that enervates “standing up to cancer” and similar bunkum.
99% of the people expressing their shock and outrage will not bother to ask themselves if their political beliefs were made obsolete by Charlie Hebdo’s assassination. Heck, most people are concerned primarily that their views not change. “Murdering cartoonists won’t stop me from loving moderate Muslims!”
And all of this babble produced nothing of practical benefit. Were a million people outraged on Twitter? One million times zero is zero.
